Seizure and kuzushi in Aikido?

In our school, we work on three levels of seizures.

The first in static, after a firm seizure, to teach UKE to direct the entry point to the desired place, wrists, elbows, shoulders or center of Tori

The second is the same to be done in the input, before it is firm.

The third, is done by making a linear movement while UKE tries to grasp, following the eventproposed by TOR.

  • In the first exercise TORI learns to feel the direction given by the seizure of UKE

  • The second teaches TORI to anticipate the seizure and to make a movement allowing an imbalance of UKE.

  • The last and third exercise is carried out in a fluid movement, forcing UKE to follow the proposal of seizure and thus to cause its imbalance naturally, without any other action on the part of TORI.

The most difficult thing in this series of exercises is to manage to be present, pshychi but not to give physical feelings to UKE, to become like a ghost, to be there, without being there! (ghost body)

Quite a challenge to achieve, but what a feeling of ease, when you get there.

UKE, feeling nothing, having no point of support, is unbalanced very easily, not to say too easily.

It intrigues you, come join us to try!

The only way to know the taste of something is to taste it :-)

Marc.
